Protect Your Assets from Internet "Phishing" Scams

Phishing is an online scam that uses a replica of an existing Web page or email you are familiar with to "spoof" or fool you into submitting personal, financial, or password information.

Different forms of "Phishing":

bulletAn email that seems to be from a trusted source but asks for sensitive personal information.
bulletA link alteration that creates a replica of a legitimate Web site you're familiar with and then sends you to a link that requests sensitive personal information.
bulletIP (Internet Protocol) spoofing via a message with an IP address that seems to come from a trusted source.

How you can protect yourself:

bulletBe suspicious of emails seeking personal information.
bulletRefuse to give out your SSN, PIN, or account number by email.
bulletReview account statements for accuracy.
